Flooring and Tile · Hanover, PA
Hardwood under wall-to-wall carpet is a common find in houses from the 1940s through the 60s, and so are old vinyl tiles that may contain asbestos. EPA advises having suspect flooring checked by an accredited inspector before it's sanded, scraped or torn up. Ask the installer whether they plan to lay over old tile or remove it, and who tests it first.
