Every Contractor Can Be Listed
Listings start from public business records and each company's own website, so nobody has to sign up first. Claiming a listing, fixing it and adding to it cost nothing.
A directory of contractors who work in York, Hanover, Red Lion and the towns around them, put together so a homeowner can find somebody good to call.
York County is 72 boroughs and townships, and each one decides how its own permits work. Some run permits in house and some use an outside code agency, so on a bigger job the first call is often to the municipal office, not the contractor.
The houses bring their own work. More than half the county's homes were built before 1980, and in York city and Red Lion about half go back before 1940. Older wiring, lead paint under newer coats, slate roofs in Delta and party walls in the rowhome blocks all change what a job involves and who should do it.
Pennsylvania doesn't license general contractors. Home improvement contractors register with the Attorney General, and that number belongs on the contract. The guides cover registration, permits, radon and the other things that come up here.

Featured listings come first on a page, always labeled. Verified contractors come next. Everyone else follows by Google rating, weighted by how many reviews it rests on.
Devon's picks and the guides aren't for sale, and a Featured business can't also be a pick. Paying for Verified pays for the check. If you fail it, you don't get the mark. How Verified works.
