Moving Companies · York County
Moving in the older towns is mostly about access. Rowhomes and twins in York city and Red Lion have narrow stairs, tight turns and front doors right on the sidewalk, and some blocks leave nowhere for a truck to park. Newer houses in New Freedom, Shrewsbury and Dillsburg are easier inside but often mean longer carries from the driveway. Winter moves add ice on steps and walks.
Get a written estimate after someone walks through the house, not a phone guess, and ask whether stairs, long carries, a second stop and packing materials cost extra. Ask for proof of insurance and what the company's coverage pays if a piece is damaged.
My rule for movers: anyone who won't come look at the stairs before quoting is guessing, and you'll pay for the guess.
