Heating Oil and Propane · York County
About one York County home in five heats from an oil or propane tank, far more than in most of the boroughs. Delta shows no utility gas in Census data and heats mostly with oil, and Dillsburg has about a fifth of its homes on oil, so delivery schedules, tank condition and winter access on farm lanes matter there. A January run-out is a cold call.
Ask whether the company offers automatic delivery or will-call, and what happens if the tank runs dry, since some charge for a special trip and a burner restart. For an old tank, ask who inspects it and who handles removal when it's time to replace it or switch fuels.
The oil truck coming up a farm lane in January is a welcome sight. Sign up for automatic delivery before the first cold snap, not after the tank goes dry.
