Generators · York County
Outages here often follow summer wind. In 2023 the National Weather Service confirmed tornadoes in York County that uprooted trees and damaged sheds, garages and a house, and falling limbs bring lines down. Rural homes on a private well lose water when the power goes, and oil or propane heat still needs electricity to run the burner and blower. Where there is no gas line, a standby unit usually runs on propane.
Ask whether the install includes a transfer switch, the permit and inspection, and the fuel line. A generator tied into the house without a transfer switch can send power back down the line. Get the Attorney General registration number on the contract.
